Week 7 Review
The project has become very successful and is beginning to take its final shape as it reaches its climax. I have decided upon looking at how people react in their own way to a peaceful and still environment. I had a tutorial and some group sessions to discuss on how to elaborate my idea further than me creating an idea for the viewers to semi agree with. By making my work have the capabilities for people to choose and create their own views and responses it makes my work much more sophisticated and moves it towards a higher level of contextual understanding.
My work looks at how an individual feels when seeing such a still and peaceful land. I had taken some more imagery and continued to build up this portfolio of images. This then allows me to decide on what i think works well and also what doesn't. Not only did i create more images, i proceeded to think on what artist have become inspiration such as Paul Gaffney's 'Perigee' which looks at how the light can change the whole mood of an image just through the way light can shine through a tree. His work inspired me to experiment with different forms of lighting in my images to really set a mood. I ended up deciding on using fairly dark images as from my own experience at first i was scared and eventually felt comfortable wandering the woods at night. I eluded the idea that maybe other people may experience the same feeling. The images i created using a black and white filter seemed so still as if it was a video of the chosen locations and they were waiting for something to happen. To me i felt this became less scary and more curious to the surrounding area. After a discussion in my tutorial we agreed that Lee Stitt was a great example of this similar type of work and that his images don't seem like stills but more videos that capture your eyes and mind in such away that you wonder what lies within the darkness.
I have decided that this is how my final project idea will play out and will begin to research in more depth on Lee Stitt especially as he is a big inspiration into how i have created my idea. For next week however, i shall print off and finalise my images ready to be handed in. As regards research i will look more in depth at Lee Stitt and Paul Gaffney along with how and why i decided on putting my images in black and white in order to provide a context and much more clarity on my project itself.
