Progression in Printing

Using the digital enlarger was a brand new technique i have used during the course of this project. I decided to us it over the inkjet printers for a variety of reasons including: it is cheaper, not many people use it and can afford to make test prints should some of the images not come out right.

I felt as though i wanted to expand my skillset and push myself to learn something new. I spent a period of time practicing the process of exposing my image and then making sure the colours come out right after i put it into the processor. Now this sounds fairly straight forward but many things can go wrong ever so slightly. For me, the biggest problem was setting the borders around my images. If it was slightly out you would not know until it comes out of the processor and this can delay your image making time and can put you behind schedule.

To resolve the border issue i spoke to a couple of my classmates to see where i was going wrong and how we can rectify the problem. I spent one evening trying to print an image to come out exactly how i wanted and after many hours i came to a final image i liked. Once finished i lined all the images i made up on the wall to show how after trial and error i eventually learned how to create the look i was after and happy with. Down below are some examples.
